The Law Office of Alison Dixon can help you with the immigration process related to matters outlined below:
:: DEPORTATION DEFENSE for PERSONS with CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS
Before pursuing an Immigration court defense, my firm will analyze the type of the conviction causing the
I analyze to see if there is any avenue to modify, vacate or alter the criminal convictions. This could eliminate
the deportation charges.
My office excels in representing immigrants to keep their legal permanent residency despite criminal convictions. We have a proven track record in successfully defending immigrants and stopping their deportation in front of the immigration court.
:: DEPORTATION DEFENSE for PERSONS in DHS CUSTODY
I do everything to secure release from DHS custody by obtaining a reasonable bond.
If bond is not available my office will thoroughly represent and present the best defense to counter the deportation charges.
:: FAMILY BASED LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENCY
U.S. citizens can petition for parents, spouses, siblings, and children. There is no quota, or waiting list for “Immediate Relatives” of U.S. Citizens who are unmarried children under 21, Spouses, Parents, Widow / Widowers (under certain circumstances). Relatives in the following “preference” categories are subject to limits on the number of visas that can be issued each year.
Permanent Residents can petition for their spouses and children in the same way as a US citizen.
My office can represent you to get your relative legal permanent residency whither they are in the United States or abroad.
:: ASYLUM / REFUGEE /CONVENTION AGAINST TORTURE
A central part of my practice is representing people with a real fear of persecution because of race, religion, nationality, membership in or identification with a particular social group, or political opinion. I have a incredible success rate in representing those persecuted or tortured in their home country.
My office represents asylum seekers from every continent all over the world.
:: VISAS FOR VICTIMS OF CRIME OR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
I have helped victims of crime and domestic abuse obtain permanent residence and temporary lawful status.
I am a compassionate and experienced attorney who can help obtain legal residency for victims of crime. You can obtain legal status and stop domestic abuse., so that you can focus on moving on with your life.
At The Law Offices of Alison Dixon, I offer legal protection and assistance to:
Victims of Crimes
Temporary nonimmigrant visas are available for victims of certain crimes, including:
? T visas for victims of human trafficking;
? U visas for victims of violent crimes (some common examples include domestic violence, involuntary servitude, kidnapping, false imprisonment, assault, blackmail, and extortion)
These visa categories allow a potential stay of three years and the ability to apply for legal permanent residence.
Victims of Domestic Violence
The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Battered Immigrant Women’s Protection Act of 2000 allow individuals who are married to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents to obtain residency in two ways: Self-Petitioning / Battered Spouse Petitions.
Victims of domestic violence can apply for residency independently of their U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouses. The citizen or resident spouse plays no role in the process and is not allowed to know the applicant is filing a VAWA claim. VAWA is complicated, however, and I can represent you to attain legal permanent residency.
Cancellation of Removal is a form of relief available to applicants who are in, or who can be placed into, removal proceedings. Because applicants must be in removal proceedings before VAWA cancellation of removal is possible, my office will represent you against the government attorneys in front of a immigration judge. These court proceedings are confidential, so abusers will never know their victims are getting legal status.
Although the law is called “The Violence Against Women Act”, it protects both women and men. In the U.S., all people are given equal protection under the law. As such, I have helped both men and women attain protection under VAWA.
